18강. 비교급

1. 동급비교

- 동급 비교와 자주 사용되는 부사

  • nearly : 거의 비슷한
  • just : 완전 동일한

EX

I have a bf who is as cute as me

I am as a hungry as a horse : 나는 말처럼 배고파

He as strong as a bull : 그는 황소처럼 힘 쎄

Ofc i heard that joke, it's as old as heel : 나 그 농담 들어봤지, 그거는 산만큼이나 오래된 거잖아

my husband as much as i drink 

= my husband drinks as much as me

(as는 접속사이자 전치사이므로 접속사로 쓰면 뒤에 S+V, 전치사로 쓰면 목적어 가능)

 

2. 순위 존재 비교 

- more(most)과 er(est) 구분 : 음절모음(아오우이)단위로 구분 시, 2음절이 넘어가면 more을 붙임

- 순위 비교급은 반드시 앞에 the

  • pretty(프리 티) - prettier - the prettest , busy(비이 지) - busier - the bussest : 2음절
  • Lazy(레이 지) - Lazier - the Lasiest , Hot(핫) - Hotter - the Hottest
  • Late(레이 트) - Later - the Latest , Happy(해피) - happier - the Happiest
  • Dangerous(덴 져러 스) - more Dangerous - the most Dangerous
  • Good(굿) - better - the best
  • Bad(배 드) - worse - the worst

EX

She is the prettiest person i have ever met

My older sister is smarter than me

I'm more caring than her : 나는 그녀보다 사려 깊

He snores the loudest in my family : 그는 우리 가족중에 가장 코를 곤다

The South Pole has the cleanest air in the world

 

3. "점점 더" 비교

- 순위 존재 비교와 동일하게 er and er & more and more 비교급대상 과  the+ most/est을 사용

EX

  • Her ENG skill is better and better every day
  • Life is more than the world, it's becoming more and more complex
  • Because He was afraid, he walked faster and faster
  • When you blow up a ballon, it gets bigger and bigger
  • As the ambulance came closer to us the siren became, more and more intense
  • She sat there quietly, but during all that time she was getting more and more upset. Finally, she exploded.(개빡치다)
  • The line of people waiting to get into the teacher got longer and longer.
  • I've been looking for a job for a month and still haven't been able to find one. I'm getting more and more nervous.
  • The weather is getting colder and colder with each passing day.
  • As i continued walking in miserable weather, it rained more and more. So, I got wetter and wetter. By the time i got home, iw as completely soaked
  • As i continued to row the boat, my arms got more and more sick until i had almost no strength left in them at all.

 

 

4. "할수록 더" 비교

- 구조 = the 비교급 주어+동사 the 비교급 주어+동사. 그러나 주어+동사 생략가능

EX

The more (I study Eng) the harder (it gets)

The sooner (you come) the better (it is)

The more fresh the fruit is, the better it tastes

The noisier(노이 지) it got, the anger i got

The closer got to the fire, the warmer we felt

 

 

5. 도치 비교

- 강조를 위한 목적으로 도치함

- 의문문 도치가 가장 많고, 아래 세 문구가 가장 많이 사용된다

  • So 주어 동사 (SO: 그렇게 = me too의 too)
  • Neither 주어 동사
  • 부정부사 사용(rarely, always, hardly, seldom, ever, never) : 도치일어나면 do가 앞으로 옴

EX

A. I am tired => So am I

A. I always have coffee in the morning => So do i

A. I studied last night => So did I

A. I liked him => So did i

A. I will go to Korea => So will

A. I can speak Eng => So can I

A. I am a student => So am I

 

- 답변 주어가 i가 아닐 때,

EX

A. I like him => So does she

A. I studied last night => So did he

A. I have been there => So have they

 

- 부정에 동의하는 답변일 때

EX

A. I didn't enjoy the movie last night => neither did I

A. I didn't eat breakfast this moring => Neither did I

A. I don't feel like going to class today => Neither do I

A. I've never been in Peru => Neither have I

A. I don't like oranges => Neither do they

A. I haven't eaten breakfast => Neither have they (특정한것 나타내면 the를 안붙임 = lunch, dinner, breakfast)

 

- 부정부사 사용 답변

EX

A. I rarely stay up past midnight(나는 밤에 거의 안깨있어) => rarely do I stay up past midnight

A. I have never seen my brother so happy with someone => Never have I seen my brother so happy with someone

A. I little know => Little do i know

A. He has been not only to Jejudo, but also has been to Dokdo => Not only has he been to Jejudo , but he also been to Dokdo

A. Jack isn't able to see her => Not until July was Jack able to see her
